Reframing Me
So many prepare us for the transition to motherhood, but no one prepares us for how hard the transition out is, and once our kids become teens, it also can feel very solitary. The issues we face with teens are often ones we need to talk about, yet feel we can't or shouldn't. Together, we can create a community of women who, faced with growing children and changing families, are relearning how to mom, and relearning who they are as women. Grounded in family communication theory, join Dr. Jennifer Brubaker to have those conversations to help you better understand this new chapter of your life. Episodes focus on both family communication with our teens and reflection and self discovery. Dr. Brubaker has her Ph.D in Communication Studies and is an Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she has taught for 17 years. Prior to UNCW, she taught at The Ohio State University, Kent State University and the University of Toledo. Originally from Ohio, Jen lives in Wilmington, NC, with her husband, three children, three dogs, cat and a menagerie of small animals. She loves spending time with her family, traveling and all things fitness, sports and wellness. Reach out with your questions, issues or experiences to begin the conversation. Our Goal-Setting Journey: Part 2 - The Life Wheel
Embark on a transformative goal-setting journey with me in the latest episode of Reframing Me! In this installment, we build on the foundational reflections from the previous episode, emphasizing the importance of SMART goals – Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timebound. Our initial dreams, goals, and objectives may feel vague but this raw and unfiltered vision is a crucial starting point. The focus shifts to a holistic life assessment using a life wheel, a tool employed by life coaches to identify and rectify imbalances. I will guide you through rating key life areas like Family, Social Relationships, Career, Finances, Wellness, Personal Growth, Environment, and Pleasure on a scale of 0 to 10. The goal is to understand the energy invested and satisfaction levels in each dimension. With a metaphorical pie chart in mind, the episode hints at the upcoming eight steps, promising manageable, bite-sized actions for each life area, using the life wheel strategy. The ultimate aim is to help you create a balanced, fulfilling life by setting goals aligned with your aspirations. Stay tuned for the upcoming episodes, where we will work through goal and objective setting for each area. Remember, balance isn't found; balance is created. Don't miss out on crafting the life of your dreams – start your journey to balance today!
